The Ayrton Bora was engineered to establish the perfect atmosphere for creative lighting design, offering a sophisticated optical system tailored for “wash” applications. At the core of its design is a frontal 178 mm spherical lens, part of a proprietary 13-lens configuration that delivers a seamless flat beam with no hot spots and an exceptionally even colour mix, regardless of the chosen palette. With its 8:1 zoom ratio and a zoom range from 8° to 64°, Bora ensures broad and flexible coverage. This luminaire comes in two distinct versions to meet the varied demands of lighting professionals: the Bora S, featuring a powerful 8000 K LED module that emits a striking 40,000 lumens of metallic white light, and the Bora TC, purpose-built for applications where accurate colour fidelity is paramount. The TC version uses a 6200 K monochromatic light source that achieves a native CRI above 90 and superior TM30 readings.
Compact and elegantly designed, both Bora S and Bora TC are exceptional examples of high-quality engineering and thoughtful innovation. From the factory, Bora is equipped with an advanced CMY colour mixing system, variable CTO, and two colour wheels, each with six complementary colours, offering limitless combinations of pastels and saturated tones. The framing section includes four individually controllable shutter blades that operate over 100% of the beam area in all positions, allowing for precise object framing regardless of fixture orientation. Enhancing its wash-specific capabilities, Bora also features a rotating gobo wheel with six gobos, a variable linear frost system for softening effects, and a 15-blade iris diaphragm for dynamic beam shaping. The cooling system employs a phase-change liquid method with heat pipe technology and an ultra-quiet ventilation mode, ideal for noise-sensitive environments.
The optical assembly includes a high-resolution 13-element zoom system with a wide 8° to 64° beam aperture and fast motorised linear zoom. Anti-reflective tempered lenses enhance clarity and performance. The Bora S version harnesses an 8000 K white light engine with up to 40,000 lumens of output, while the Bora TC runs on a 7000 K engine producing up to 31,000 lumens, prioritising colour accuracy with a CRI over 90. Both models offer flicker-free output, making them suitable for TV and other video-recorded productions. Movement precision is ensured via high-resolution stepper motors and microprocessor control, enabling smooth, accurate pan and tilt functions with automatic repositioning. The range of motion includes 540° pan and 262° tilt.
Bora’s colour system delivers refined CMY mixing, variable CTO correction, and dual colour wheels loaded with vivid tones. The gobo system includes an indexable rotating wheel with six specially designed gobos, allowing bi-directional rotation and flexible image projection. Framing is managed by four blades capable of full-field operation with module rotation of ±45°, supporting intricate beam shaping. A fast iris diaphragm delivers dynamic beam control from 15% to fully open, while the linear frost smoothly transitions from 0% to 100% for softened edge effects. The electronic dimmer ensures smooth 0–100% adjustments with no colour shift, and the strobe function allows flash speeds from 1 to 25 Hz.
On the software side, Bora supports local DMX addressing via its built-in LCD control panel, with RDM compatibility for remote adjustments. The information menu displays system status, such as operating hours, internal temperature, and software versions. The hardware interface includes a graphic LCD with a flip display and jog wheel for easy navigation. A built-in LumenRadio™ CRMX TiMo™ RDM receiver enables wireless control. Standard connectors include 5-pin XLR for DMX, etherCON RJ45 for ArtNet™, and a powerCON TRUE1 input for electrical connection.
Bora supports multiple control protocols including DMX 512, RDM, ArtNet™, and sACN, with three DMX operating modes ranging from 30 to 52 channels. The power supply accepts 120 to 240 V input at 50/60 Hz, with a maximum power draw of 1,150 W. The advanced cooling system combines liquid cooling with self-regulating variable-speed fans and a selectable silent mode. Overheating protection ensures safe operation under demanding conditions.
Structurally, Bora features a robust housing made from aluminium and steel, with heat sinks in copper and aluminium for optimal thermal performance. The base is die-cast aluminium, while the covers are moulded from self-extinguishing ABS PC for fire safety. Bora includes dual handles for portability and heavy-duty feet for stability. It carries an IP20 protection rating and is finished in matte black (Carbon). Installation is flexible, with a dual Omega bracket system and eight ¼-turn locking fittings for mounting versatility, plus a secure point for attaching safety cables.
Bora operates in all positions—on the floor or rigged—and tolerates ambient temperatures from -10 °C to 45 °C. The minimum safe usage distance is 2 meters, making it ideal for large indoor venues, live performances, exhibitions, and broadcast studios.
