The Light Brick – Lichtbaustein® has been a hallmark of BEGA for over 60 years, recognized by many for its timeless forms—circle, square, or rectangle. This iconic light feature stands as a true evergreen in architectural lighting design.
During the manufacturing process, the glass is heated to temperatures exceeding 1300 degrees Celsius. Skilled glassmakers carefully insert a translucent layer of opal glass between two layers of crystal glass. At this stage, the glass takes on a viscous, honey-like consistency. Inspired by the soft, flowing, and almost random shapes of pebbles found on the beach, BEGA sought to shape this precious glass mass into forms that evoke that natural beauty and fluidity.
The luminaire glass is designed to move freely on its fittings, enabling just two shapes in two sizes to create countless unique arrangements. This flexibility mirrors the random, natural interplay of pebbles, enhanced and transformed into a stunning visual experience by light.
Equipped with BEGA Thermal Management®, the metal fittings are finished in white, paired with satin matt opal glass that diffuses light softly. These luminaires come with DALI-controllable power supply units, delivering a high color rendering index (CRI) greater than 90, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and excellent light quality.
