Architectural Surface-Mounted LED Light for Indoor and Outdoor Ceiling Applications

  • ERCO
Lightscan ceiling surface-mounted luminaires are engineered to deliver powerful, efficient general lighting for large indoor and outdoor spaces, especially where high protection ratings and minimal maintenance are essential. These luminaires are ideal for areas such as train stations, airport terminals, covered passages, arcades, and other busy traffic zones that demand robust lighting over broad distances. With high luminous flux output, Lightscan fixtures ensure strong illuminance levels on the floor, enhancing visibility and safety in high-footfall environments. Their low-maintenance optoelectronics contribute to long-term sustainability by conserving resources and reducing operational costs through high efficiency and reliability.

The lighting performance of Lightscan is defined by its advanced optical system featuring ERCO’s Spherolit lenses. These lenses are available in wide flood, extra wide flood, and oval flood distributions, allowing for tailored lighting solutions that address diverse spatial requirements. The oval flood lens, in particular, offers 360° rotational freedom, enabling precise alignment to architectural or functional elements. Whether providing wide, symmetrical illumination or linear grazing along traffic routes, Lightscan ensures visual clarity and uniformity across a wide range of applications.

At the heart of the Lightscan system are high-power LEDs offered in warm white (3000K) or neutral white (4000K), with additional options available in 2700K and 3500K at CRI 92 or 3000K at CRI 97 for superior color rendering. These LEDs are paired with collimating lenses made from optical polymer to produce accurate, controlled beam angles. The optical components are housed within a robust structure designed for longevity and resilience. The cast aluminum housing undergoes a No-Rinse surface treatment and double powder coating for exceptional corrosion resistance, while a cast aluminum cover frame and safety glass ensure further durability and protection.

Lightscan’s construction meets IP65 protection standards, making it dust-tight and resistant to water jets—perfect for both interior and semi-exterior environments exposed to harsh conditions. Control gear options include both switchable and DALI dimmable versions, providing compatibility with a range of lighting control systems for adaptable lighting schemes. Customization is available through ERCO’s wide range of finishes—up to 10,000 colors for the housing—allowing the luminaires to integrate seamlessly with architectural aesthetics.

To support general lighting with uniform ambient coverage, the recommended spacing (d) between Lightscan surface-mounted downlights is approximately half the luminaire's mounting height (h) above the working plane. This relationship—d = h / 2—ensures balanced illumination in expansive spaces such as halls, terminals, and concourses. For optimal wall lighting uniformity, the offset from the wall (a) should be half of the luminaire spacing, or a = d / 2. These spatial guidelines allow lighting designers to plan effective layouts with predictable performance across various ceiling heights and architectural contexts.

Combining advanced optical precision, durable construction, flexible mounting, and high luminous efficacy, the Lightscan ceiling surface-mounted luminaire range from ERCO represents a robust solution for visually comfortable, high-output general lighting in demanding environments.
