The Motive Post Top Light is part of a refined lighting collection that blurs the line between indoor and outdoor illumination, creating distinctive and engaging environments. Designed by Justin Champaign, the Motive family celebrates the interplay between light, architecture, and space through its neutral sculptural form and technologically advanced LED configuration. Ideal for a wide range of applications—from building entrances and pathways to public spaces and art installations—these luminaires offer a modern approach to lighting design that balances performance with visual elegance.
At the heart of the Motive design is its hidden light source, which, paired with either a clear or diffused lens and a sculpted interior, invites curiosity and closer inspection. The luminaires provide smooth, even light with minimal glare thanks to a thoughtfully engineered lamp and reflector system. Available in four color temperatures—2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K—all with a CRI greater than 80, the Motive area lights offer versatility for various lighting needs and aesthetic preferences.
Constructed with durability and longevity in mind, the light engine features a cast aluminum cartridge with high-powered LEDs mounted to a RoHS-compliant circuit board. This system delivers indirect lighting in conjunction with a spun aluminum reflector, with the exception of the Lambertian distribution type. The cartridge is designed to be replaceable for ease of installation and maintenance. The electrical components include a surge-protected driver compatible with 120V to 277V power, 0–10V dimming, and a -40°C start temperature. An optional ANSI C136.41 twist-lock receptacle is available, and fixtures are shipped prewired for convenience.
The luminaire housing is a round, cast aluminum structure sealed with a UV-stable, impact-modified diffused acrylic lens. The top cover is secured with three magni-coated cap screws, while the luminaire mounts to a standard 2-3/8-inch diameter tenon with stainless steel set screws. It is available with two pole height options—10 feet (3 meters) and 12 feet (3.7 meters)—and three distribution types to suit different lighting scenarios.
The poles themselves are tapered from 4 inches to 3 inches and crafted from seamless 6061 aluminum tubing, heat-treated to a T6 temper with a 0.125-inch nominal wall thickness. Each pole includes a flush-mounted handhole cover with two magni-coated fasteners and is mounted at grade using galvanized steel anchor bolts. A two-piece cast aluminum base cover and a cast aluminum base plate complete the installation. The entire system is UL listed and available in a range of powdercoat finish colors, ensuring both performance and visual integration in any setting.
