With a new linear optical concept, Zen Square Recessed introduces a highly efficient "spotless" optic design paired with micro-groove side walls. This configuration ensures superb visual comfort and consistent shielding across the luminaire’s profile. The patented inverted “U” form of the light guide optimizes downward illumination, enhancing comfort with more luminance from the top of the fixture than the sides. These luminaires provide up to 1000 lumens per foot and reach efficacies as high as 99 lumens per watt.
Each Zen Square recessed unit features a high-precision light engine that is field-replaceable and upgradable, providing long-term adaptability and future-proof performance. The fixtures deliver a minimum CRI of 80 or 90 for accurate color rendering and are available in 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K color temperatures, with excellent color consistency within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse—both within a single fixture and across multiple units. Designed for longevity, the LEDs maintain 85% of their initial output after 50,000 hours in 25°C ambient conditions, as verified by LM-80 testing standards.
Zen Square Recessed fixtures are built with a robust extruded aluminum housing and die-cast aluminum end caps. The integrated thermal management system uses the housing as a heat sink to maximize LED life. These luminaires are UL and CSA certified, suitable for dry and damp locations, and meet CCEC requirements for Chicago plenum installations. Operating temperatures range from 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F), making them ideal for most indoor environments.
Multiple control options are available, including Lutron’s Hi-Lume 1% EcoSystem (LDE1) with Soft-on, Fade-to-Black dimming, as well as DALI, DMX, Power over Ethernet (PoE), Xitanium SR, MOLEX, IGOR, and SMARTENGINE. Input voltage choices include 120V, 277V, 347V, and universal voltage (UNV). Integral emergency battery packs or circuit options ensure operation during outages, and drivers are UL2108 certified for both integral and remote configurations.

For pendant applications, Zen Square utilizes SurroundLite® optics that provide three-dimensional spherical batwing light distribution. This creates wide, evenly diffused planes of light that reduce contrast, improve comfort, and minimize the number of fixtures needed in a space. SurroundLite’s non-Lambertian distribution mimics natural daylight and offers glare-free illumination on ceilings, corners, and walls—opening up the room and enhancing visual appeal. The direct-indirect optical system of pendant models contributes to reduced installation costs while delivering optimal light performance and comfort.
