Two traditional family businesses from the Black Forest are joining forces to make a lasting impact on the lighting industry under the motto #blackforestlight. The Waldmann Group, which specialises in innovative lighting systems for offices, industry, care and healthcare, acquires the Münstertal-based lighting manufacturer Hatec.

With over 800 employees worldwide, Waldmann is a leading player in the lighting industry. By taking over the family-run company Hatec with its 50 employees, Waldmann is not only expanding its portfolio, but also sending a clear signal in favour of Germany as a production location. ‘It is an investment in Germany as a business location and in the future of lighting systems from Germany,’ emphasises Christoph Waldmann, Managing Director and fourth-generation owner of the Waldmann Group.

Hatec - a company with innovative strength and a high level of implementation expertise

Hatec has stood for high-quality, customised lighting solutions for decades. The company was managed in the second generation by Heribert and Andreas Pfefferle - a businessman and an architect who realised impressive projects with their combination of entrepreneurial vision and technical expertise. Their recipe for success: ‘Listen, understand, do.’ Thanks to this philosophy, hatec has been able to hold its own against major European manufacturers and build up an impressive reference list of prestigious projects.
Nevertheless, it is family businesses in particular that think long-term - not in quarters, but in generations. The challenge of mastering company transitions within the family is emotional and complex. ‘When it became clear to us that we didn't want to pass on this responsibility within the family again, the opportunity opened up for Waldmann,’ say the Pfefferle brothers.

Stability and innovation for the future

The takeover means that the Münstertal site will be retained, as will the management team with Mr Pfefferle and the entire Hatec team. For Waldmann, the integration of hatec represents a strategic expansion of its service portfolio. ‘We want to offer our customers even more customised lighting solutions and respond more flexibly to project-specific requirements,’ explains Christoph Waldmann.

When entrepreneurs with the same values pool their energies, a strong basis for stability and innovation is created. With the typical Swabian-Baden indomitable spirit, Waldmann and Hatec are now jointly setting new standards for maximum effectiveness in the lighting industry - made in the Black Forest, made in Germany.

Lighting the Future: Waldmann Group Expands Portfolio with Hatec Acquisition
Waldmann Unveils the New Office System to Elevate Workplace Health and Productivity

Height-adjustable desks promote health at work – but how can performance be sustainably increased? The answer may sound surprising: with light! Waldmann has developed the app-based NEW OFFICE SYSTEM for this purpose, which is currently unique in this form and improves well-being, concentration and creativity at work.

With the NEW OFFICE SYSTEM, Waldmann has set itself the task of counteracting the challenges faced by office workers. This raises the question: “Can light reduce sick days, make work more effective and increase problem-solving skills?” The answer is a resounding yes! This is because light works on three levels – visually, emotionally and biologically. It not only improves visual performance, but also supports well-being and regulates our biorhythm.

The various modes of the new Waldmann app are based on scientific findings and are designed to create the optimal lighting conditions for every requirement in the office. Studies show that light directly influences our performance. It regulates the levels of melatonin, dopamine and serotonin, thus stimulating brain activity.

Promoting creativity with warm light

When creative ideas are needed, the right lighting creates the right mood. The “creativity mode” of the Waldmann app relies on warm, dimmed light that creates a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere. Studies show that such light supports the creative process and allows ideas to flow.

Boosting concentration with cool light

Focused work requires more than just quiet – the quality of light plays a crucial role. In “focus mode”, the Waldmann app uses cool, blue light that increases concentration and boosts mental performance. This minimizes errors and maximizes efficiency.

Wellbeing through dynamic light

Our biorhythm is largely controlled by daylight – but in many offices, this natural dynamic is missing. This is where the “feel-good mode” of the Waldmann app comes into play, imitating natural daylight. This lighting control promotes general wellbeing, increases energy and ensures that employees feel healthier and more motivated.

With the New Waldmann Office System, Waldmann is helping companies to sustainably improve the health, productivity and innovative strength of their employees. Numerous studies confirm that good light ensures better work – and Waldmann delivers exactly that!
