Two traditional family businesses from the Black Forest are joining forces to make a lasting impact on the lighting industry under the motto #blackforestlight. The Waldmann Group, which specialises in innovative lighting systems for offices, industry, care and healthcare, acquires the Münstertal-based lighting manufacturer Hatec.
With over 800 employees worldwide, Waldmann is a leading player in the lighting industry. By taking over the family-run company Hatec with its 50 employees, Waldmann is not only expanding its portfolio, but also sending a clear signal in favour of Germany as a production location. ‘It is an investment in Germany as a business location and in the future of lighting systems from Germany,’ emphasises Christoph Waldmann, Managing Director and fourth-generation owner of the Waldmann Group.
Hatec - a company with innovative strength and a high level of implementation expertise
Hatec has stood for high-quality, customised lighting solutions for decades. The company was managed in the second generation by Heribert and Andreas Pfefferle - a businessman and an architect who realised impressive projects with their combination of entrepreneurial vision and technical expertise. Their recipe for success: ‘Listen, understand, do.’ Thanks to this philosophy, hatec has been able to hold its own against major European manufacturers and build up an impressive reference list of prestigious projects.
Nevertheless, it is family businesses in particular that think long-term - not in quarters, but in generations. The challenge of mastering company transitions within the family is emotional and complex. ‘When it became clear to us that we didn't want to pass on this responsibility within the family again, the opportunity opened up for Waldmann,’ say the Pfefferle brothers.
Stability and innovation for the future
The takeover means that the Münstertal site will be retained, as will the management team with Mr Pfefferle and the entire Hatec team. For Waldmann, the integration of hatec represents a strategic expansion of its service portfolio. ‘We want to offer our customers even more customised lighting solutions and respond more flexibly to project-specific requirements,’ explains Christoph Waldmann.
When entrepreneurs with the same values pool their energies, a strong basis for stability and innovation is created. With the typical Swabian-Baden indomitable spirit, Waldmann and Hatec are now jointly setting new standards for maximum effectiveness in the lighting industry - made in the Black Forest, made in Germany.
