IKIO LED Lighting has been named Top Trade Ally and Outstanding National Lighting Implementor for the Northwest Region by TRC in recognition of its exceptional performance under the NIPSCO Business Energy Efficiency Programs.
The award reflects IKIO’s leadership in advancing high-performance, energy-efficient LED upgrades that delivered over 3,463,956 kWh in verified savings—another milestone in environmental impact and grid efficiency.
Recognized for Smart Execution and Lasting Impact
The award-winning project involved a complex lighting retrofit at Marquette Elementary in Gary, Indiana.
Faced with a failed underground lighting system and a high water table, the school had struggled for years with inadequate exterior lighting and no feasible fix. IKIO stepped in with a fully off-grid, solar-powered lighting system—restoring safety to the perimeter and parking areas without trenching, disruption, or downtime. Inside the building, over 3,400 energy-efficient fixtures—including T8 Type B LED tubes, Ace and Spelta corn bulbs, and high-performance panel lights—were strategically deployed to maximize brightness and efficiency while qualifying for prescriptive rebates under the NIPSCO Business Program.
The result: an immediate performance improvement and a scalable model for non-invasive lighting modernization.
Commentary from IKIO’s Energy Team
Jeremy T. Zientek, Renewable Energy Developer at IKIO, shared that the award reflects the team’s dedication to delivering impactful, utility-aligned lighting solutions. “It’s a proud moment that highlights how targeted retrofits can drive meaningful energy savings.”
What This Means to Us?
This underscores the power of strategic, purpose-built lighting upgrades to drive meaningful energy savings and elevate infrastructure across K–12 and municipal spaces.
It reaffirms IKIO’s commitment to going beyond product delivery — to becoming a solutions partner for institutions facing real-world constraints like aging systems, budget limitations, and site-specific complexities. The award reflects the belief that lighting is not just about illumination, but about restoring safety, enabling access, and building resilience into every environment we serve.
Above all, it inspires continued innovation: to design lighting solutions that adapt to challenges, amplify impact, and deliver long-term performance where it matters most — in our schools, communities, and public spaces.
