Lighting Control Protocols

A lighting control protocol is a set of standard rules that define the methods for data representation, signaling, authentication, and error detection to ensure control or enable the connection, communication and data transfer between control endpoints. A wide variety if wired and wireless communications protocols are available for lighting control. These include 0-10VDC (1-10VDC), DALI (digital addressable lighting interface), BACnet, DMX512, RDM, EnOcean, Konnex (KNX), LonWorks, MIDI, Modbus, TCP/IP, ZigBee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread,, COAP, MQTT, and 6lowPAN.
