This round surface-mounted MRI wall sconce is designed as an ADA-compliant architectural fixture that integrates seamlessly with the SmartLED™ MRI Lighting System. Engineered specifically for MRI suites and other specialized healthcare environments, it features a 14-inch round form factor with a shallow 2.5-inch profile that meets ADA requirements while maintaining an unobtrusive presence on the wall. The fixture employs a static-white LED light source operating at 3500 K with a CRI of 80+, delivering a clean and comfortable illumination suitable for patient-oriented spaces. Its central glow panel and edge-glow lens design create a soft, uniform visual effect, enhanced by optional color filters that can tailor the lighting experience to specific room themes or patient comfort needs.
Constructed with a brushed anodized aluminum housing and a decorative brushed aluminum ring measuring 10.5 inches, the sconce offers durability, rustproof performance, and cool operation that extends component life. The ring surrounds a clear 1/4-inch acrylic diffuser that expands the fixture’s diameter to 14 inches and produces both the illuminated white center field and the signature edge-glow appearance. Four contemporary button finials complete the exterior aesthetic. The modular design ensures the assembly is fully serviceable, supporting long-term sustainability through removable components and a 90,000-hour (L70) LED life backed by LM-80 qualification.
Lighting performance is driven by a 15-watt LED array that delivers reliable output while maintaining low energy consumption. The fixture operates on universal 120–277V input and supports 0–10V dimming through the SmartLED driver modules, achieving smooth, flicker-free control down to 0.38%. This allows precise adjustment of light levels for MRI workflows, patient preparation, and calming room scenes. The system also supports emergency operation when paired with the SmartLED Emergency Backup System, including the EMI-21220 or EMI-03120 remote inverter options, which are specified and ordered separately. A remote driver configuration ensures all electronics remain outside the MRI room for safety and compatibility.
Because the sconce is part of the SmartLED™ MRI Lighting System, it requires Kirlin remote driver modules, an equipment cabinet, and RFI filters for proper operation. These components are selected using the MRI Configurator and are ordered separately to match the project’s MRI equipment and room layout. Installation requires new-construction mounting with a remote driver setup, and the fixture attaches to a universal back plate compatible with any nonferromagnetic octagon or 4-inch square junction box installed in the wall or ceiling. The system also requires a minimum of 18 AWG twisted-pair shielded wiring between the SmartLED hardware and the sconce to ensure proper EMI/RFI performance.
Rated for dry interior locations with covered ceilings or walls, the fixture complies with UL and C-UL requirements, as well as FCC Part 15 and IEC/EN 60601-1-2 standards for EMI/RFI emissions and Level 1 infection control. Its combination of optical refinement, MRI-safe electrical architecture, ADA-compliant form, and serviceable construction makes it a dependable and aesthetically pleasing solution for MRI suites seeking reliable ambient illumination with specialized control and compatibility.
