The Astra Hybrid420 is a high-performance hybrid moving head fixture designed to deliver powerful beam and spot capabilities in a compact, efficient design. Powered by the newly developed 420W USHIO NSL421 lamp, it provides an exceptional lumen output of 35,815 lumens and a luminous intensity reaching up to 99,284 lux at 2.7° from a 15-meter distance. Despite its high output, the Astra Hybrid420 maintains a lightweight and fast-operating body, offering a performance level typically associated with much higher power consumption units.
With a motorized zoom range from 2.7° to 40°, the Astra Hybrid420 transitions effortlessly from tight aerial beam effects to broad spot projections. Its HD anti-reflection lens system with achromatic coating ensures high-definition output and optimal clarity. The motorized focus system further enhances the precision and sharpness of both beam and spot applications. The fixture also features a linear CMY mixing system across three smoothly fading color wheels, augmented by 15 dichroic filters on three independent wheels. Additional color temperature presets, including 2,500K and 3,200K, along with a CTB filter, offer advanced white control and creative flexibility.
The Astra Hybrid420 is equipped with an extensive suite of dynamic effects. These include an animation wheel with bi-directional rotation, two overlapping prisms (8-facet and 4-facet) with indexing and bi-directional rotation, and a linear frost filter for smooth soft-edge beam control. For gobo projection, it includes two gobo wheels—one with 9 rotating, interchangeable, and indexable gobos, and another with 18 fixed patterns—providing both textured beam effects and crisp image projection capabilities.
Built with an aluminium structure and reinforced polycarbonate housing, the fixture supports 540° pan and 270° tilt with 8/16-bit resolution and automatic repositioning. Control protocols include DMX512, RDM, Art-Net, sACN, and W-DMX, with wireless functionality provided by LumenRadio’s Timo Fx module, supporting both CRMX and W-DMX standards. The unit features a high-resolution color LCD display with autoflip, and firmware upgrades can be managed via onboard menu or USB-DMX interface (UPBOXPRO/UPBOX2, not included).
Electronically, the Astra Hybrid420 includes a mechanical dimmer and strobe system, offering 0–100% dimming and up to 28 flashes per second. It operates flicker-free within a temperature range of -10°C to +45°C, and includes a self-charging display battery for convenient access to settings off power. Its power system supports universal mains voltage (100–240V, 50/60Hz), with a maximum power draw of 590W and a high power factor of >0.96.
Physically, the fixture features IP20 protection and is cooled by forced air with an internal fan. It can be mounted in any orientation using quick-lock omega brackets, with secure pan/tilt locks for transport and maintenance. Connectivity includes Amphenol XLR 5-pin for DMX, Neutrik RJ45 for Art-Net, and Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 for power input.
