The S480 single-head ceiling-mount operating room light is part of the DARAY S4 line, developed to deliver a concentrated, high-quality light beam with excellent shadow dilution and highly accurate color rendering for demanding surgical environments. This model belongs to a broader range that includes wall-mounted, ceiling-mounted, and mobile configurations in both single-head and dual-head formats. Every version incorporates a smooth, fully enclosed light head that supports stringent infection-control procedures, while a finely tuned spring-balanced arm system ensures effortless maneuverability and stable beam placement throughout procedures.

As a cost-effective LED surgical lighting solution, the S480 meets the rigorous requirements of modern operating theatres and is built around a multi-lens geometry system that produces a cool, comfortable, and evenly distributed beam. The lightweight and slim light-head design supports excellent laminar-flow compatibility, minimizing disruption in environments that rely on sterilized airflow. A fully sealed head further reduces turbulence within purification and ventilation systems, helping maintain a controlled and hygienic surgical area.

The lighting performance is driven by 108 LEDs within a 700 mm diameter head, achieving an impressive 160,000 lux at one meter. The system supports a variable color temperature range from 3,800 K to 5,000 K and maintains superb color accuracy with a color rendering index of Ra 95 and an R9 value of 97. The light field is adjustable between 120 mm and 350 mm, and the temperature rise on the surgeon remains extremely low at just 2°C. The fixture operates on a universal 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz power supply, supporting a wide range of global healthcare installations.

For facilities requiring imaging integration, the S4 Full HD camera option introduces a 3.3-megapixel optical system with a powerful 20× optical zoom and 1080p/1080i resolution. The camera delivers 262,000 true colors and includes a long coaxial cable to support flexible monitor placement. Controls integrated into the arm allow surgical staff to adjust camera settings seamlessly during procedures without disrupting sterile technique.
