Dimmable LED Drivers
Where variable light output is required as part of any control strategy, the LED driver shall be dimmable through pulse-width modulation (PWM) and/or constant current reduction (CCR). The LED driver be designed to interpret control protocols such as 0-10V, DALI DMX, Ethernet or ZigBee. CCR or analog dimming can be used in applications with strict EMI requirements and remote applications where long wire runs are used. PWM or digital dimming is advantageous for applications that require a consistent color temperature. When LEDs are used with phase-cut dimmers and constant voltage LED drivers, PWM is applied to modulate the duty cycle to the LEDs.
